Living in a city is becoming more and more popular, and not just among young people. Gone are the days when a city was just full of young professionals. Nowadays people of all ages reside in cities and there are an increasing number of people choosing to bring up families within cities too.
City living is different from rural living, or even living in a standard town. Living within a major city quite often revolves around high rise apartment blocks and mews houses. These buildings tend to be extremely modern and minimalistic to create a chic and trendy home.
Just because the build of your home is modern does not mean you cannot have some home comforts. Choose vibrant or warm colour schemes to add some excitement to the home and choose soft furnishings such as cushions and throws to soften what can sometimes be a slightly hard interior.
Most apartments will have a balcony of some sort and mews houses a small garden or terrace for you to sit on. Even if you only have a small space, try to use some garden furniture sets or individual pieces as this will give the illusion of more space.
At Chic Teak our range of garden furniture sets includes many items which are perfect for a smaller space. Teak and wood garden furniture fits in well within a modern environment and will blend in nicely with the rest of the décor.
If you are allowed to, hang some form of picture or art on the walls. Printed or covered canvases look great in an apartment or town house as they are a very modern item yet can be created to take on any theme you wish. Displaying photos also gives a sense of home and makes you feel happy every time you walk past, really making your city pad your home.
