Can Snoring Lead to Weight Gain?

"Sure would be nice if I could sleep with my wife." This was the initial statement made by a subscriber. As I continued to read though, I realized the problem was in fact snoring rather than a possible marital rift.

Because of the noise created by his snoring turned apnea due to a substantial weight gain, he had been sleeping on the couch for a number of months.

His initial rapid weight gain was about 22 pounds. This started about the time he transferred from a more physically active job role to one which required very little physical exertion. As time went on, he realized that he had added nearly 50 pounds and was also snoring terribly.

These changes led him to ask whether his rapid weight gain caused his apnea or if it was the other way around.

As with many issues like this, we're left to ponder "which came first?" It is true that carrying extra weight can put one at risk for snoring or apnea. But, sleep disorders can also lead to gaining weight.

These complications were present with my client. He initially gained weight which added fat to his throat and neck. That created a partial block in his airway which meant he started snoring every time he slept at night or even napped.

He then felt far too worn out during the day for exercising and shortly thereafter realized even more weight had been added.

Headaches, exhaustion and lethargy tend to accompany snoring. When energy is zapped, people also tend to eat more as a replacement.

For my client, this meant adding another 30 or so pounds to his initial 20 pound weight gain. His snoring was then elevated to sleep apnea. Although men forty and older are more likely to suffer from apnea, anyone can end up with it.

While not everyone who suffers from sleep apnea snore, the majority do. A sleep study should be conducted in order to properly diagnose apnea.

Other factors that can increase the risk of sleep apnea in addition to weight gain are excessive alcohol intake, certain medicines and sleeping position.

Snoring and mild apnea can be cured. My all natural Stop Snoring program has had phenomenal success. And if you are struggling to lose weight, I also highly recommend my Weight Loss Breeze program. Both are all natural and are easy to work - especially if you are already finding that you have little energy right now.
