AVATAR is one of the most popular Web searches nowadays. It is in nine nominations for the Oscar 2010 and is likely to win several awards. Avatar is a 2009 US science fiction movie written and directed by famous movie director James Cameron. Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Michelle Rodriguez as well as Stephen Lang play the starring roles.
The term "avatar" originated in Hindu mythology. It is "god's visit to Earth to fix something that is broken". Being one of the three gods protecting creation, Vishnu visits Earth often. In Hindu mythology Vishnu is portrayed dark-blue. James Cameron has also decided to make the aliens blue.
Set in the future on an alien moon called Pandora located the Alpha Centauri star system, Avatar movie tells the timeless story of gluttony, immaturity and the violence resulting from ignorance.
The story revolves around a soldier - Jack - who comes Pandora the moon located in the Alpha Centauri star system in order to help The Corporation that wants to mine and export unobtainium - a precious mineral. The Na'vi are the alien sentient humonoid civilization that thrives on the planet. They are a part of a huge symbiotic living system that comprises both plants and animals which are connected by an intricate biological communication network. The Corporation intends to mine the planet and the Na'vi fight against the intruders for their motherland. The rapid growth and expansion of the mining colony menaces the continued existence of the local tribe.
When on a mission, Jake is taken in by the Na'vi and explores their culture, language and habitat. He falls in love with a female Na'vi who rescues him when he is lost in the forest.
Avatars are biological creations made from alien and human DNA. They are not self-aware and are controlled by a human whose DNA they were made from. The soldier controls an avatar made from his brother's DNA.
Avatar is an idealistic film demonstrating an ideal world. The ending is particularly touching. The visual effects are fantastic. Being a skillful film maker, Cameron has made one of the most thought-out and consistent films. The movie is really worth viewing.
